    India Implements Cargo Restrictions For Foreign Carriers

    India has amended its Open Sky agreements this week, placing restrictions on foreign cargo airlines operating flights to India. Non-scheduled foreign carriers can now only operate freight services to six major cities in India, with permissions required for others.  Read more here.

    How carriers won the rates war

    Oceanfreight rates from Shanghai to the west coast of the US have more than doubled since May to record levels, getting ever closer to $4,000 per feu.
    During the same period freight rates from Shanghai to the US east coast have increased by around three-quarters, at a time when shipping firms are cutting back their operations due to Covid-19 and are also struggling to meet demand as exporters worry about the escalating trade conflict.  Read more here.
    Felixstowe port apologises to customers and rescinds empty container ban

    The UK’s port of Felixstowe has issued an apology to customers for “inconvenience”, admitting that “our service standards are not currently where we would like them to be”.
    On its website on Friday, the port attributed its problems to “a sharp spike in import container volumes, along with a high proportion of late vessel arrivals”. Read more here.

    CP opens new transload facility in Montréal

    CALGARY – Canadian Pacific has opened its new multi-commodity transload facility in Montréal.
    The new facility offers transloading services and supplementary intermodal transportation and distribution services from CP’s Côte Saint-Luc yard, with space available for future expansion. CP will operate the facility with TYT Group, a Québec-based freight transportation services provider. Read more here.
