Maersk Line to enhance Trans-Atlantic routes

In order to improve the reliability and transit times of their TA5 service, Maersk Line will be instituting network enhancements in the upcoming weeks. Effective from the below mentioned vessels, the TA5 service will no longer call La Spezia, Italy & Boston, United States. Additionally, the TA5 Eastbound Algeciras, Spain call will be replaced with Port Tangier, Morocco. Read more here.

Both fourth quarter and full-year 2017 intermodal volumes turned in strong performances, according to data in the most recent edition of the Intermodal Market Trends & Statistics Report, which was released today by the Intermodal Association of North America (IANA). Read more here.

Montreal – At a technical briefing for the media, the Montreal Port Authority (MPA) presented its container terminal project at Contrecœur. This large-scale project aims to support the growth of the container market, a sector that generates economic development for Montreal, Quebec and Eastern Canada. Read more here.

IMF predicts global economic output in 2018 to beat 2017

THE International Monetary Fund estimates that global economic output increased by 3.7 per cent in 2017 and forecasts the growth rate will rise to 3.9 per cent in 2018 and 2019, according to the IMF’s latest quarterly World Economic Outlook (WEO) Update.If the IMF’s forecast proves correct, last year’s global economic output would be 0.5 percentage points higher than the 3.2 per cent growth rate recorded in 2016. Read more here.
