    Amsterdam Schiphol Will Keep Its Passenger Cap Until At Least November

    Atlas Air execs eye millions in bonuses from Apollo consortium takeover

    Atlas Air executives can expect a significant payout if the carrier is acquired by an Apollo-led consortium, as indicated yesterday in the US Wall St Journal.
    According to “people familiar with the matter”, Apollo Global Management is in advanced talks to buy Atlas Air, with a deal expected “soon”. Read more here (login required).

    US slows ships to save whales

    Vessels off the US East Coast must slow down more often to help save a vanishing species of whale from extinction, the federal government said Friday.
    The US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration made the announcement via new proposed rules designed to prevent ships colliding with North Atlantic right whales. Read more here.

    Port of New York and New Jersey sets container fee, mandatory export levels

    Ahead of the expected busy peak season, the Port of New York and New Jersey will implement a container fee on any long-dwelling import or export containers. The goal of the tariff is to reduce an excess of empty containers dwelling at the port and free up space for container pickup. It includes both loaded and empty containers.
    The quarterly container imbalance fee, announced Tuesday morning, will be effective as of September, pending a mandatory 30-day federal notice. Read more here.

    Maersk cuts import box dwell time at US ports to nine days

    Maersk has shortened its import containers dwell time at key US terminals from 14 days to nine, before they are transferred to an off-dock facility.
    The new regime begins on 8 August.
    The shipping line said previous moves to resolve the backlog had proved insufficient, adding: “We had until now focused on draying containers with no activity for more than 14 days. Read more here (login required).
