SAS Hit By Cyber Attack As Hackers Demand $175,000

Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) was hit with a cyberattack on Wednesday, rendering its app and website inoperable for nearly a full day. A group known as Anonymous Sudan reportedly first demanded $3,500 from the carrier before upping its demands to $175,000. Read more here.
Air Canada Launches 4 New Winter Routes Alongside Capacity Increases

As part of the airline’s Winter Sun schedule, Air Canada is set to commence new services later this year, which will be an 11% increase in capacity from the carrier’s 2022 Winter Sun schedule and an 8 % increase from their 2019 Winter Sun schedule. Read more here.
Stranded WestJet Passengers Threaten Legal Action

The Calgary, Canada-based airline WestJet was forced to cancel hundreds of flights on May 18. This left thousands of passengers stranded across various parts of the world.
The airline was forced to begin canceling flights due to a strike notice that was announced by the union that was representing its pilots, Airline Pilot Association (ALPA). Read more here.

Vancouver Increases Container Throughput at DP World Terminal

Vancouver Fraser Port Authority joined with terminal operator DP World to mark the completion of a major expansion project at one of the port’s terminals. The increased capacity is considered critical to the near-term growth of the port while Vancouver continues a long-term process to add a third terminal and operator to the port. Read more here.
