Canada facing intermodal challenges

Increasing regulation and a shortage of trucks is causing slowdowns in Canada’s intermodal supply chain, according to Hapag-Lloyd.
In a note to customers, the German carrier warns that Canada’s domestic and international trucking industries are facing challenges that are having a dramatic effect on truck availability. Read more here.

Renewed demand on the Asia-Europe and transpacific trades was in further evidence today after Hong Kong-based shipping line OOCL released its 2017 fourth-quarter operational update, showing double-digit growth on the east-west deepsea trades. Read more here (login required).

HMM launches ‘ultra-freezer’ option targeting seafood shippers

Korean shipping line HMM has started its first ‘Ultra-Freezer’ service between the port of Busan in South Korea and Barcelona, Spain, in a moves designed to target a market for certain high-value perishable products normally transported by air. Read more here.
