    Cathay Pacific To Make Further Route Cuts Due To Crew Quarantine Rules

    Following a disastrous December where passenger numbers were down by 98.7% compared to the year before, Cathay Pacific is looking at further capacity cuts due to new restrictions for airline crew. The airline is considering requesting volunteers for flights that will require them to quarantine on return but says it may need to scrap one-third of its current passenger services. Read more here.

    Air Canada Adding New Montreal To New Delhi Route

    New blow for shippers as carriers announce Asia-Europe blankings for CNY

    Ocean carriers are to cancel several headhaul sailings to North Europe around the Chinese New Year holiday next month.

    Port of LA offers $7.5m ‘beat congestion’ incentive to terminal operators

    The port of Los Angeles (PoLA) is stepping up its battle against congestion at its container facilities.

    End to box shortage may be in sight

    After an extraordinarily difficult 2020, an end to the exceptional container equipment shortage experienced in recent months could be in sight, according to container monitoring specialist Container xChange.
    Container xChange highlighted a “positive trend” observed on the organisation’s Container Availability Index (CAx) that it says could make Chinese New Year the turning point, with values for 20-foot dry cargo containers (20DCs) and 40-foot dry cargo containers (40DCs) improving to 0.34 and 0.37, respectively, indicating much higher availability of empty containers than last month.     Government of Canada Approves Milton Logistics Hub Project

    The Government of Canada oversees rigorous environmental assessments to ensure good projects that support economic growth and environmental protection get built.
    After a thorough review based on the best available science and evidence, and extensive public engagement, the Minister of Environment and Climate Change, the Honourable Jonathan Wilkinson, announced today the Government of Canada’s decision to approve the Milton Logistics Hub Project, subject to 325 conditions.     China factories go into overdrive but exporters are not happy

    Clark Feng saw export orders for the garden furniture, swings and tents he sells out of China surge 70% last year as lockdowns and social distancing fueled demand. But he’s not happy about it.
    “The more you sell, the more you lose money, what’s the point?,” said Feng, who owns trading company Vita Leisure Co. in the city of Linhai in eastern China. “I don’t know who says we are beneficiaries. We are victims!”  Read more here.
