The action follows months of rising tensions which have already seen many airlines altering flight schedules to avoid night stops in the country or canceling flights to the nation altogether.     Canada Launches A SAF Council: What Does This Mean?

    The Canadian Council for Sustainable Aviation Fuels (C-SAF) is bringing together over 60 Canadian airlines, suppliers, OEMs, and other industry stakeholders. In total, approximately 100 members conducting business in the Canadian aviation industry have come together to form this organization. Some recognizable names include Airbus, Air Canada, Bombardier, Shell Aviation, GE Aviation, the Greater Toronto Airports Authority, and Pratt & Whitney, among others. Read more here. 


    US Airlines Cancel 100s of Flights As Storms Approach Dallas

    After last week’s weather shenanigans causing havoc for aviation on the European side of the Atlantic, the turn has now come (again) for airlines in the US to surrender to the forces of nature. Large parts of the US are facing severe weather conditions as the second winter storm in a week batters down, and airlines are canceling hundreds of departures as a result. Read more here.


    CMA CGM plans airline launch for first half 2022

    France-based shipping group CMA CGM looks set to launch its own Air Operator Certificate (AOC) airline in the first half of this year, which could mean a phased switch of A330-200 freighter services from its Liege hub in Belgium to Paris CDG. Read more here.

    Boxport congestion worsening rapidly

    Global container port congestion is rapidly worsening despite headlines of easing traffic at the twin ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach.
    Logistics giant Kuehne+Nagel’s digital platform, seaexplorer, has developed what it terms as a Global Disruption Indicator, which tallies the cumulative teu waiting time in days based on container vessel capacity in disrupted hot spots. The specific hot spots covered include Los Angeles, Long Beach, Seattle, Vancouver, Prince Rupert, Oakland, New York, Savannah, Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Shanghai, Ningbo, Rotterdam and Antwerp.     MTO grounds trucking businesses involved in ‘Freedom Convoy’ protests

    The Ontario Ministry of Transportation has effectively shut down 39 trucking businesses in the wake of a crackdown on so-called Freedom Convoy protesters.
    Responding to questions from trucknews.com, the ministry confirmed that 12 suspension and seizure orders were issued to Ontario-based large truck operators involved in the protests, suspending their operating authority throughout Canada, and issuing an order to seize all the plates registered to them.     Pandemic disruptions foster cybersecurity complacency

    Supply chain disruptions have caused many companies to de-prioritize security as they struggle to acquire basic services like transportation.
    A new report, produced by online security provider Kaspersky and freight transport insurer TT Club, has revealed that despite a rise in cyberattacks during the supply chain crisis, 16 percent of U.K. businesses de-emphasized cybersecurity last year amid the pandemic, port closures, driver shortages and other challenges associated with Brexit.
